I have alumni library lending privileges. I will like to access the Lexis Nexis electronic database.

Will this be possible through being a law alumni and also what username and password will I use?

We are sorry, but in order to comply with the license conditions of the electronic resources the SU Library Service subscribes to, only current registered students and staff members of Stellenbosch University are entitled to off-campus access to the library’s electronic resources via

We receive numerous queries from alumni and external users to obtain off-campus access to the University Library's e-resources.  Even though we would like to accommodate these users (especially the alumni) the Library's academic subscription agreements with publishers and aggregators do not allow for this arrangement.  We are aware that external users and alumni are willing to pay for such an arrangement, but such an arrangement would also not form part of our current academic subscription agreements.

We are truly sorry that we cannot receive your request for off-campus access favourably.

Please note that the library website and catalogue are open and free for use on the internet. You will find information on the services available to you in the user guide for Alumni on the library website.

Please note that a selection of databases are open access databases and journal articles may be downloaded for free. Open access databases are indicated with the icon  on the e-database list on the library website. I encourage you to make use of the open access databases to find the information you are looking for.
